I love helping people find work that works for them, because I know from personal experience how important that is and… how challenging it can be to find the right workplace ecosystem that enables you to thrive.

best work

Much of my professional work—as well as my personal journey—has been focused on exploring these questions:

  • What is the work you are meant to do?

  • How do you bring your Best Self to work – and to life – each day?

  • How do you create a “life ecosystem” that supports you being your Best Self and doing your best work?

Having executed three significant career changes in my own life, I have a special fondness for working with people—especially those in their 20s and 30s—who are interested in exploring either career changes or finding the first career that fits not just their skills, but who they are as a unique individual.

I have a Master’s Degree in Counselor Education from the University of Maine. My undergraduate degree was in Natural Resources Conservation (notice an early career change?).

When I’m not doing the work I love, I enjoy surfing, yoga, photography, good conversation with friends, all things health and wellness, and reading and listening to podcasts on a diverse range of topics, including personal growth, spirituality, neuroscience, health and wellness, and of course…job search and career development.

I bring the following to my career coaching approach:

  • Over 25 years of experience developing and teaching practices that increase resilience and one’s ability to face change, challenge, and uncertainty. I’ve written about and spoken at conferences on this topic around the United States.

  • A passion for physical fitness and healthy nutrition, and how these affect our ability to be our Best Selves at work, in our relationships, and in every aspect of our lives.

  • Over 25 years of teaching storytelling as a communication tool in therapy and business. I use this help job seekers use stories to communicate in a more fascinating, credible, and compelling way what they have to offer, whether networking or in a job interview.

  • Applying what I learned in my early career as a therapist in the mind/body medicine field to helping job seekers and career changers use the power of the mind/body connection to shift themselves into an optimal performance state. This makes it much easier to do the hard and sometimes uncomfortable things that are part of searching for a new job or changing a career. Having these skills also enables you to both boost your confidence and come across in a more engaging manner in job interviews and when networking.

  • Over 20 years of experience working with managers and HR professionals, which has given me a deep understanding of what managers look for in an employee, what drives them crazy, and how to translate this into being an “Employee of Choice.” This is especially helpful for new grads who have never had a professional job and want to navigate this new terrain.

  • Referred to as “a pioneer in the onboarding field” and the author of dozens of articles and book chapters on the topic, I translate this expertise into helping new grads and young professionals start their new job off right and set themselves up for success.

  • A deep interest in various wisdom traditions and in mindfulness, and how they help us face challenges with serenity and courage, and help us bring our Best Self into the world.

Enough about me…I look forward to hearing from you and discovering how I might help!
